Artist Statement
This body of work explores the strange beauty of poison dart frogs and the abstraction of both exotic and familiar flora, creating a dialogue between observation and imagination. These paintings depict hyper realistic studies of these creatures, closely replicating their electric colors and striking markings, and placing them with flat, almost graphic interpretations of botanical environments for them to inhabit. While some works meticulously note the detail of the frogs, others deconstruct both subjects into simplified forms, developing repetitive shape language where frogs and florals become a unified image. From fine art works to elegant scarf designs, these paintings transform explorations of natural beauty into experiences that can be appreciated both as wall displays and as wearable art in everyday settings.
